Subject: RE: Gear Reduction Starter for Farm Tractor Way to Go ?

This is another favorite subject of ag talk. Just has not been touched in a while. For the two tractors you mention it will make all the difference on cold mornings. the 4020 you will need to buy according to the serial #. The air intake on the earlier ones is different and that is what is the difference. The thing I will say is that the ones that go on the 4020 no matter which one you put on if the tractor sits out they do not like the rain getting in them. Any starter shop that is reputable will be able to get them or a Stens dealer can get them from J n E electrical. You have to have someone that KNOWs which is good and bad and I have been doing it for a while and have the accounts but I seem to still struggle with knowing which are good. I know one thing the one you need for the 4450 you will need to add a section of wire to the activation solenoid wire to make it easier but the change is worth it.
