I keep reading that all three rescue/humane society receiving locations are stuffed completely full and begging for donations of food, etc. Part of the issue is the "interview" and application process required to adopt a dog. No outside dogs, home must be adequate, etc. It may be easier to adopt a child than it is to adopt a dog or cat in SE Iowa.
Yep, it's gotten out of hand. I had a client/friend put me down as a reference for a dog 10-15 years ago. I was like, what (!?)... sure enough they called and ran through a list of questions. She is amazing and got the dog... can't imagine anyone could be better, but the hoops she had to jump through were silly stupid.
Anyone need a dog?
