 Chebanse, IL..... | We took a 708 power unit (cold-blooded Perkins diesel, hydrostat), modified it and added a 1000 gal tank and a 45' JD front fold boom. Actually it was a rear fold boom, but we were running it backwards. We ran it for several years until switching to a Hagie. I think we actually built it in '88.
We had to make custom wheel centers for the 18.4 x 38 tires. Had to machine a drive hub that would drive a large diameter v-pulley to spin the spray pump fast enough. Modified the rear axle to fit down 30" rows. Added a hitch to the back so the sprayer could pull it's own nurse tank down the road.
Frank Lessiter wrote an article about it in No-Till Farmer back in '91. The machine in the upper RH & lower RH is ours. 2nd half of the printed article.
Also, a local grain elevator mounted a conveyor on one for loading off of a corn pile.
