We use grapeseed on our cast iron indoors, but it doesn't matter what you use outdoors.

BBBUUUUUTTTTTTT. Do VERY light coats of oil. Don't get all gung-ho and think more is merrier. Your seasoning will flake off and make you sad.

You won't ever be finished seasoning. Only repeated cooking and burning with different types of fats will get you where you want to be.

If I were you, I'd go after that griddle with a 5" random orbital sander and make it SMOOOOOTH before you season it.
