If it is the 282 diesel with glow plugs the best thing I did was put a used 1466 starter on mine. The starter on it doesn't turn it fast enough. The 1466 starter really whips it over. Helps cold starts a lot. I also put one group 24 battery on it when it got the starter upgrade.
