Michigan | We use a high speed disk and roll beans. Neither tool we could do with out…. But we do worry the high speed disc causes some compaction but on the other hand I just really can’t see why it would cause any more compaction than a field cultivator. A lot of the compaction form high speed disk talk comes from smaller guys that can’t afford the cost. The high speed disk for us has revolutionized our farming and I would argue we have less compaction from fewer passes across the field and being able to wait until it is fit to work because we can cover the acres so fast. As far as the roller it may pulverize some soil and it washes down but we can’t live with the alternative- stones and dirt in the combine……
