Fluid degrades as a function of time and mileage so a person has to look at it from two perspectives, not one (mileage). Filters also degrade over time. Considering the age of the vehicle, at a minimum I would change the fluid and filter utilizing OEM-spec fluid and filter. Flushing transmissions seems to have mixed reviews in the mechanic world.
