| You describe similar issues we have in central North Dakota. I've been using a JD 2100 on our compaction issues for 6 years with success. Our soil is 6-8" black topsoil with yellow clay underneath. Our compaction starts at 3" from the surface, goes down to clay, and into clay about 5". I rip 15-18" deep, preferably on wheat stubble, with dry soil conditions. We have a implement rental company in our region. Their bread an butter for the last 15 years has been VT and land rollers. Guess what, they are offering deep rippers now. | |
