East of Broken Bow | From my past experience, if you first lost one set of gears, either the odd or even gears, and now only the Sentry light comes on, chances are the computer is dead. If you lose either the odd or even gears, but the others keep working, it might be the sensor.
If it doesn't move, try pressing in the clutch, and moving the gearshift lever to the other powershift gear. Do the shift while holding the clutch all the way in. If it now moves, you have about a 50-50 chance of fixing it with a sensor. If not, you have about a 90% chance the computer is done.
Before doing anything else, though, be SURE that the main power wire coming off the battery is not corroded. A test light works well because if it flickers at all, it is telling you that either the power wire or ground needs looking at.
Triple R tractors, and also Ag Express in Grand Island, NE make replacement computers far cheaper than a new one through Case.
Hy Capacity makes a test unit that plugs right into the existing wiring harness that by passes the computer so you can isolate whether it is the computer or something on the tractor. It is probably cheaper to buy that, than have the dealer send over a mechanic for a service call. | |
