Heard from a mechanic that only works on automatic transmissions that no automatic transmission would ever fail if oil was dropped and filter changed every 40,000 miles. Don't flush though. When you just drop the oil you are only getting about half of it but it keeps it fresh when frequent changes are made. The idea that never changing oil on anything doesn't really make sense.


Right or wrong, that's my take on it.
I've never had an automatic transmission flushed, but we change the fluid and filter on them regularly. Never lost an automatic transmission yet. (knock on wood!)
