Nova Scotia | Around here the serious vegetable growers use a mid mounted hooded sprayer between the beds. One pass up and one pass back for each wheel track. Aim (carfentrazone) has an extensive label and is safer than paraquat.
One thing I've seen that I like is using spring sown cereal rye on headlands. Cereal rye that is sown in the spring will remain vegetative (short) all season. It keeps the summer annuals down. You could use it between the beds. It really compliments mowing for weed control because it suppresses weed germination, and forces the weeds that do germinate to set their seeds up higher where they can be mowed.
