When the resin is new it does move when backflushed. Where I saw problems was in higher iron water. Resin would get clogged with iron. The other issue is the water pressure. The water pumps that cycle 20 to 40 PSI don't provide enough flow. The other issue is backflushing takes 10 gallons/min in larger units. If your pump doesn't supply that much you could have problems.
