Yes it is real…. A lot of Dairys are raising the absolute minimum of heifers do to cost of raising them. Also a good number of farms don’t raise any young stock at all and breed 100% beef. These farms have relied on farms selling surplus heifers/ cows to there herd size where they want it. Also milk demand has ramped up quite abit this past year. Milk cow demand is strong and going to get stronger IMO. Currently need $4500to buy good dairy cows here.
