I've had Roku's for at least 6 years. Still on the original one and it's used daily. Parents have them too now.
No smart TV, just go to Input 1 and use Roku remote to do whatever. Watch local news app, youtube, netflix, ESPN, etc I also have an antenna on the roof to get local channels for news and sports.
