Mid-Michigan | I stripped all the topsoil off down to clay. Filled that with processed road gravel and packed it with a vibrating roller. Topped that with crushed natural stone (4A) and rolled that for hours. Has made an excellent drive at my grain bin site. Drainage is excellent and key. Not sure what fabric would do except deter packing. Not sure you can use my method for spinning around track equipment. Mine is excellent for heavy truck traffic. The vibrating roller i think is crucial also. It prepares the base and then vibrates the crushed stone into the bases as well as fitting the crushed natural stone into place against each other like a puzzle. I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out. You can pull any load on it no matter what time of year it is and the natural stone is clean. It doesn't get milky like limestone.
