Western Oregon
My first semi was a 1952 GMC 630 single axle, 4-71, 4&3. 16' vacuum flatbed doubles converted to air. 1972, I was 16. I hauled veneer and plywood from Valsetz to Independence, back hauled full glue bladders. Second was a 1952 GMC 950, single axle, 5&3 with a set of lightweight aluminium Fruehauf grain doubles. 2 loads a day, same as the big boys with half the empty weight.

First tandem diesel was a 1973 GMC 9500, 6-71, 10 speed. Was a city van chassis. I moved the tandems back, built a 21' bed and set the hoist. 1976, I was 20. Bob tail to the bins, pup to Portland....James
