Pittsburg, Kansas
The only thing I can say from having the same experience over many years of farming is that lens quality makes a difference. There are different densities in plastic. The more dense plastic they can make the lens much thinner which also helps make them light.

Since ordering the highest quality lenses from Zenni on line, my glasses are not nearly as bad about scratching as back when I had thicker and I presume cheaper lenses from conventional sources. I say presume because buying them from a retail shop, they were definitely not cheaper from what it cost me. But I think the lenses must have been made cheaper. Now I order the best quality lens I can get and they are still about half price as from the local places. Kind of hate it that it is that way. I would prefer to buy local. But it is what it is.

I never had much luck with the coatings. Ok for a while then once they started getting scratched they were worse than without coating.
