1993 Freightliner FLD120 flat top with a straight piped N-14. Sure did sound good. Just sold it a few years ago. Turns out they are pretty desirable trucks to the right people. I had people fighting over it and offering me more than my asking price.

Nice old kenworth, love the colors. 8v92 is the easiest starting motor on our farm, as soon as you press the button it takes off, I can hear those rain caps tinging when it first starts from here.

First semi on our farm was a GMC Astro that dad bought in the early 80s that had a paint job that made it look like a football helmet. He always says it was the happiest day seeing that thing leave the yard…

GMC 9500 with 318 DD. Spring ride, bias ply tires, dual exhaust, no AC. My hearing has never been the same. Also had a 69 Hendrickson 335 Cummings, 13 spd 4.11 rears. No power steering , had center point steering. Not a bad truck. MUCH quieter than the 318.

My first semi was a 1952 GMC 630 single axle, 4-71, 4&3. 16' vacuum flatbed doubles converted to air. 1972, I was 16. I hauled veneer and plywood from Valsetz to Independence, back hauled full glue bladders. Second was a 1952 GMC 950, single axle, 5&3 with a set of lightweight aluminium Fruehauf grain doubles. 2 loads a day, same as the big boys with half the empty weight.

https://bigiron.blob.core.windows.net/public/items/dda9bb8c434ae6118...

First tandem diesel was a 1973 GMC 9500, 6-71, 10 speed. Was a city van chassis. I moved the tandems back, built a 21' bed and set the hoist. 1976, I was 20. Bob tail to the bins, pup to Portland....James

Thank you I sure like it, I haven't even had it on a trailer yet. I've wanted an A for a long time and had the opportunity to snag this so I did.

I also have a Astro with a 6v92. It's not near as nice and needs some work. it's a daycab. Hopefully one day I can do something with it unless I could find a k100. I'm a kw guy lol

Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251
My first semi was a 1980 White road boss. Ugly, no power, not enough gears, no A/C, and a seat that road like a wooden ammo box.

We called her The Panty Wagon.

I was way overloaded hauling a Timberland sidetrimmer on a lowboy down around Emminence, MO. I came around a sharp curve creeping along and in front of me was a really steep hill. I got 3/4 of the way up, downshifting the whole way, when I ran out of gears. The kid sitting next to me opened the passenger door, and just stepped out and walked!

96 T600 60 series 13speed still got it and will probably never leave it's my favorite truck so far. Then got 05 T600 that was decent but burned up. Bought 05 T800 ISX with 12sp ultrashift which is a real nice truck also that I have then last year got 06 T800 C15 with 10 spd. Not sure how much I like this truck yet if I had to sell one this would be the one.

First on our farm was a 1972 w9 with a 1693 cat, we still have it. First one i bought was a 1996 w9 with 60 series Detroit, sold it to Tony fast/fast ag in 2015

Pics of the W9 would be awesome, I have a soft spot for the ol 1693. Buddy has had a 74 W9 for years and I just bought myself a 74 352 with one to keep our 74 352 1674 company.

West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12
A well used 1983 International 9670 cabover with a good running big cam 350 Cummins and the "old school" ten speed that had a high strung low gear paired with with very well used rough side 43' Wilson hopper.

Before the first semi we stretched several different semi tractors and made tri and quad axles straight trucks with with 20' and 22' hoist/grain boxes and pintle hitches to pull pups and combine trailers. The first being a 1968 U model Mack with an air start V-8 Mack engine coupled to a Mack quadraplex transmission...air assist steering was added.

In 1990 I bought a 1986 KW w-900 B,that had an assigned title. It was near new and rolled on the interstate.Killed driver.Neighbor bought it and it took 3 years to find a cab. In 1989 He was driving in NJ and needed to take a wizz at a fuel stop.He walked out back and saw a w900B cab on blocks, asked and they said "auction here next week",,he bought it and put it on the frame.I bought it for 23 ,000$ with an insulated trailer.Only 175,000 miles on it.I still have the truck,it is now a dumper.I always figured the guy whom died is riding on my shoulder,,it has the crush marks from his crash on top of the stick shift and steering wheel.400 cummins, reyco suspension even, can not kill it.

East of Broken Bow
Got my first semi, a single axle tractor a coupole years ago from an agtalk member. Was exactly as they described it to be, and still going strong. An old Ford Aeromax with an 855 Cummins they sold me in good running condition for $2500. Heater doesn't work, but pretty much everything else does. Have put very little into that truck. Found a trailer for $8000 in OK condition and been hauling with it ever since. The trailer had old tires on it when I got it, here and there one would crack or bulge, and one or two actually popped, so I looked around and got used take-offs from a fleet shop for $75-125 per tire, mostly 2 year old Michelins and Bridgestones. Figured they should be as good as new import tires on the trailer.
