Talk to your rural water supplier. Ask them how hard and how much iron is in your water. TDS would also be helpful. Report back with what you find out. You won't know the best equipment to get without knowing what you're trying to remove.


TDS is "over 400" and "we don't test for the rest" along with "our water is softened when it leaves the plant, a softener is not necessary", yet the softener in the house makes a significant difference in fixture life and buildup.

A water test will be back in 3ish weeks.
