If you have transmission issues with a GM you are no better with a Ford. The 10 speed in a GM 1/2 ton is 100% identical to a 10 speed in a 1/2 ton Ford. 100% identical mechanically, only difference is the controlling aspect. The 10 speed in a 3/4 or 1 ton GM is about 80% identical to the 10 speed in a 3/4 or 1 ton Ford. And I personally would avoid the Ram as they aren't the strongest transmissions either. Not notorious for failure like the mid 1990's but not good enough I'd own one and that's purely a personal decision. Plenty driving around with no issues but there are plenty of GM's with no issues as well.
