West Michigan | Heifers and steers both at least around us are very expensive. We raise both also. We have talked about trying to forward contract cattle if we were to buy more feeder calves so we didn't lose are buts if prices were to drop. I was just asking not trying to stir anything up. Was just curious if any one else was feeling some kind of struggle with trying to find cattle that look half ways decent.
We've ran into the trouble the past couple of months when we buy cattle from the auction they end up bringing sickness with them no matter what. Almost every group we have bought we have lost at least 1. We try to do are best with treating and catching stuff early. But its a never ending battle with death loss. We have had better luck buying straight from farms since there coming from one clean place to another. | |
