coast of Maine | Been doing the direct deal for 45 years, way before it was a cool thing to do.I cant do the meat birds or beef due to FSMA rules,we do sell other farmers meat egg products. It was considered a losing deal way back.I would be gone if I was still just a truck farm and dealing with the few chain buyers in the USA.I read on here of guys doing custom grain blends / calf mixes /sweetcorn/pumpkins /popcorn etc.It is not easy, you wont get many days off,you can set your own prices over costs.Grass fed local beef sells for close to 10$ lb.Farmers we sell out of paying him 8$ for his entire animals as ground beef.very HQ products sell well.I do not tell production secrets but most are "do not believe all you read or hear on others crapping gold bars"as most whom have multiple stories in media are such,,,I was in the boondocks and it is only the boonies now so that has helped.Do the best you can and be beyond helpful to all customers ,,heck we used to carry the produce to their cars,,not able now but you get the idea.. | |
