| So I had a vibration from my rotor this fall. I cleaned the threshing elements, checked for broken sep tines, and it didn’t fix the issue. It was a fine vibration at certain rpm ranges, would smoothen out a bit if I sped up or slowed down the rotor.
Post harvest I got a green light inspection done, and the front rotor bearing seemed tight, but the rear end had some vertical play.
Got the parts ordered and today we slid the rotor out a ways and took the old coupler off. We checked it on the shaft as well as the new one. The old one had a fair amount of play compared to the new one, which also had some play. The shaft has some wear on the sides of the splines.
Would you replace the shaft? It looks to be quite the job pulling out the gearbox and then changing the shaft.
We also took a better look at the front rotor bearing and it has some play too, will be changing that while we’re in there.
I hope these two items will fix the vibration because nothing else looks off on the rotor or it’s components…
Combine has 2700 sep hrs does about 1000-1500ac per year.
Any feed back is appreciated.
