Southwest Illinois | The 330 was basically a warmed over disk with less concave blades. The 335 was a warmed over version of it. The current 435 is slightly better but still not in the same league as the Turbomax or Incite. We have run the 330, 335 and 435 and always go back to our Turbomax. I do know guys who like them to plant wheat into and that apparently works good. The only way any of these work to make a decent seedbed is for ground conditions to be pretty dry. Some guys run them in stalks in the fall and again in the spring and that seems to be the best use. We tried the 435 this spring in some standing stalks and it was on the wet side and if we ran the discs straight we basically just sliced the soil and moved no dirt and when we angled the blades we brought up enough root balls that the rolling basket couldn't make a decent seedbed. They need to add additional finishing attachments to include some type of chopper reel or a spiked harrow/treader. For $15K you can find a good used Great Plains Turbo till or for $30 to $40K you can find a good used TurboMax, they are far better at making a 1 pass seed bed. That being said the 330 and 335 can also be bought super cheap, and there is good reason for that. | |
