Southern Indiana | I love to build. The feeling of starting with a piece of bare ground and ending up with something that will be an asset to future generations is hard to beat, not to mention if I did it myself I could actually afford it. My dad couldn't nail 2 boards together but he had couple carpenter buddies who helped once in awhile and I learned a little from them, then just looked at the 2 pole barns we had built in the 60s and 70s and went from there. Love the geometric simplicity of laying it out and watching it grow.
Started with a 32x32 shop in 1982, a 60x64 hay and equipment shed in 87 then an 18' lean to a couple years later. 24x36 garage at the house, 80x44 open front machine shed and 96x48 open front loafing shed. Only thing ever hired out was a little leveling and wiring. Always hated to pay someone to do something I could do better, but never minded paying someone to do what I can't.
Strictly a barn carpenter, fancy stuff in the house gets hired out. | |
