Central Indiana
First off Im not married to D. But this year was a first look at tar spot. I know many have had it and had it worse than central Indiana. But I believe the bottom line is every seed corn company has gotten tar spot. Some worse than others but not the top three or four companies. If we treated every acre and every hybrid 3x for tar spot and D yielded 275 and brand X made 255 but visually D looked worse. What's the difference? As I listen to agronomists across the board, tar spot can't be replicated in test plots or greenhouses making it nearly impossible to predict a score on how a hybrid will react. Weather will affect tar spot much worse than a hybrid variety. Tar spot is a monster we will have to control yearly, and every year will be different.

I made mention earlier this week that I do a replicated test plot. There were three hybrids that were visually more healthy than others. 112-12 and 2 110's. I've not seen 112-12 across a whole field, but I will this next year as I plan to plant a box or 2. It wasn't the top yielder, but it's in the top 6. Test weight was 62.8 pds
