East Central Arkansas | I mainly use the sprinklers but do have the row fall to use furrow. Not unusual to have to use the sprinkler to get stuff up especially with the Fall garden.
The collard greens we cook in a pot with just a small amount of liquid and seasoning. Brown some bacon or salt pork for them to cook in. Throw in a hot pepper. We cook just like our other greens. Turnip greens, kale and mustard and it's not unusual to have a mixture. I think of the collards being more cabbage like with a somewhat thicker leaf that doesn't get tender quiet as fast as some of the greens. The collard I like the best is called a forage collard. I got the small package of seed from a cover crop meeting back several years ago. | |
