A not best laying farm but decent yields sold today. 133 tillable acres just south of I70 and off 13 hwy. $8,050 an acre. Dairy bought it, they have been buying just about everything that comes up. Always been told that theres no money in the dairy industry.

On another note, a farm that is straight north of this one is supposed to be coming up. Eyed it for 2/3s of my life, 20 years. Man actually was first person to ever pay me for laybor. $100 for darn long days when i was 13 or 14. If most know the guy they'd understand its a big deal lol. How can someone that doesn't have the built up equity compete? Im all for free market and capitalism but when is it enough for some of these guys? I'd like enough to maybe raise a family on, if not just enough i dont have to work an intown job and maintain the family ground that is supposed to be passed on.

You can hope, wish and dream.

Or you can make a plan, work your butt off, save, save and save some more for a down payment.

The sooner you get over the idea that 'others have enough but keep getting more' the better off you will be. Enough is never enough.

Talk to different bankers and see how much they need for a down payment. Look into the beginning farmer loans. Plan accordingly.

Somehow befriend these guys you think have too much and try to learn something from them. Let it be known you are looking for ground to rent or buy. Sometimes you have to take scraps now to be in a position to build on later. Some farmers let smaller patches or further away fields go when they pick up farms closer to home. Someone might throw you a bone.

There is tons of opportunities if someone is willing to work. Think outside the box. Mobile power washing service, custom manure application or pumping, trucking, lawn mowing, etc. None of this is glamorous but if there is a will there is a way.

And most importantly, if you don't go to church, start. If you don't pray, start. If you don't tithe, start. God's Blessings are sometimes unexplainable, but they are amazing. I wouldn't be where I'm at today without the good Lord's hand in it all.

I completely agree. Gods done more than i can ever put on here guiding me through life. The ups, downs and in-betweens. Wouldn't be alive if he hadn't intervined. First a auto accident that should snapped my neck and crushed the back of my skull that i walked away from. Then from that severe depression along with other mental struggles. All a path and journey to be saved and given life back since whatever my work on this earth isn't done yet. Just like yesterday and a few other days rain was supposed to hit but held off long enough to get what needed done accomplished. Maybe not on time like id hoped but it works out.

The negativity by 99% of the people i am around is tough to get over. The last year I've been trying to manage it better. I pick up as many odd jobs as possible, pretty good mechanic, lay and fix field tile when possible, anhydrous application, what ever i can do for custom work. I've learned certain people talk a big talk but when the pony up time is there to give a major boost to my farm, its given to the bigger and better talking big boy. I did get a large 1100 custom anhydrous job that i asked about. The custom applicator that had been doing it didn't ever call the guy this spring, it was supposed to be done in the fall. Guy that was supposed to do it does 20 or so thousand acres a year. He chewed out 3 of the mfa managers blaming them for letting me do it when they had no say whatsoever. Threw a temper tantrum because he thinks he atomically gets any big piece. Ive already picked up 200 guaranteed acres a year of his scraps from him not getting and putting the gas on right. Those guys i picked up are tickled silly from what i hear from the grapevine.

Had a instance with guy that i do custom for that had someone else finish his corn and didnt even tell me it was getting done. Still have to travel 12 mile to pick up corn head that was sitting in the field. 14 years of listening to him say how he doesn't do that to people then does it to the guy who does the most that he can for him. If that door closes, a better one will open. I have a feeling he was holding back my potential, sad thing is he is jealous of everyone. Tough deal because i thought we were somewhat close but his impatience this fall and selfishness has just damaged a relationship, friendship or whatelse it could be called. I'm saddened because he's not mentally thinking like hes preached and feel he's going through a late mid life crisis with his actions. I realize i need to keep my business and friendships separate. Not having any family has left a void that ive tried to fill, i consider some like family. Then they are the first to leave you hanging in polite words. There's a fine line in being neighborly or consider family and out to make a living that i string to close.

I have started to let some of the large operations know like you said so maybe a bone is thrown. "Ask and you shall receive. Knock, and the door will open." Most dont and sit and gripe afterwards. Ones that do are get it. These large operations are pushing the limits though with landowners so maybe with the commodity price things might change. I just cant believe why people rent stuff to like that Mcbee outfit in Gallatin. They dont pay their bills but keep gaining. Was to today the grain complex off of 6 hwy was never paid for. Not one cent of it from the sound of it. Thats where when is enough, enough comes in. I know nothing isn't ever enough for most. They dont want to be content, all people are guilty of it at somepoint.

Im not the best keyboard writer or best at anything in fact. Im just putting thoughts and experiences out there. Asking questions at times like everyone does. Mainly was just wanting to share the land auction results since most like to know. Thanks for all the replies
