WC IL | College friend of 1 of my sons is making a nice living on about 30 acres. Grows a bunch of veggies in the summer, has several farmer’s markets in towns from 5-100,000+ within a couple on hours. Grows a bunch of fryers and direct sells them, will have quite a few turkeys to sell this week.
Just rented an additional 17 acres that he is going to raise sheep and meat goats on, he has a market for those as well.
Everything is organic, and he is a good marketer. He and his wife provide about 60% of the labor, he is able to hire high school kids to help in the summer. They work hard, but always seem to have time to spend with their 2 kids under 5 years old. | |
