| A trap gun has a higher comb and generally are set up to shoot high because everything you shoot is rising. Also will probably want a tighter choke than normally used in a field gun. A field gun is a definite disadvantage. That said, a field gun would work to get started for what they are doing now. But if they get serious they will soon want something different. An advantage of an 870 or an 1100 is the stock can easily be changed to a stock with trap dimensions.
