Middlesex County, Ontario | Our feed supplier puts BinSentry sensors on bins at no charge to the customer. They save time/money not paying phone tag with everyone and it gives them more information to create accurate/efficient feed truck route schedules.
The sensor is a downward facing ultrasonic probe thing that hangs in the top lid, has a little solar panel on the outside and I assume a SIM card. It somehow maps out the shape of the pile and the server somehow keeps track of feed useage and makes empty predictions.
I can check the bin status through their app on my phone which is nice. I can also check when the next delivery is scheduled and me account balance. The next batch of livestock is coming Tuesday so the predictions are n/a.
I have my own load cells under the bin legs connected to a scale screen that’s more accurate, but I don’t think that’s as simple as you want.
All this to say: have you talked to your feed supplier? Maybe they have something similar?
