Double the number you feed and it wears out twice as fast and uses double the fuel. I don't see how feeding equipment can be a fixed expense. It goes up proportionately to the tons of feed.
This is how banks get farmers in trouble. The bean counters look at machinery as a fixed cost but wear & tear are variable costs.
