Subject: Do we need the RFS?

NC South Dakota
Is all gas sold in this country required to have an oxygenate? Shouldn't it so we have clean air?
I don't like the government mandating we do things a certain way, but isn't it common sense to blend ethanol in gas for an oxygenate?
Wouldn't banning something toxic like MTBE(an alternative to ethanol) in fuel be in this countries best interest when something like ethanol exists?
Just some thoughts.
