| So playing with that logic, the low hanging fruit is to first ban tobacco, then ban sugar beverages, candy, etc. Fight obesity and diabetes and you will fix a whole host of health problems plaguing Americans. But start with the obvious no?
There is no proven science on GMO vs non-GMO. Ridiculous place to start the regulations. Organic vs conventional isn't even proven.
I'm all for continuing to study safe levels of preservatives, dyes, etc. This fight needs to be determined with science, not Facebook mom groups. That being said, in this free market world, the producers will supply to the market the products the Facebook mom groups want to buy - but it will be at a price point that incentivizes the producer enough to want to produce that product. I actually do not know any organic farmers that feel their product is actually superior - the ones I know are simply supplying a product and trying to increase profitability.
In short, some level of science based food safety is important. Let the free markets do their thing for those wanting to pay more for "value added" food products. | |
