Everything you say is true but so what? It comes down to personal responsibility. People who want to eat healthier foods and make sure their kids eat right can do so and I applaud those who do. By the same token I believe anyone has the right to make unhealthy food choices and eat whatever they want. Has technology made us lazier? No question about it but I don't think we all need to go back to the 1800's and dig post holes by hand and use a hand saw for cutting boards. I enjoy technology. There are other ways to be active and stay fit. I think smoking is a horrific and idiotic thing to do to one's body and those around them. However, I still support the right of those people to enjoy their coffin nails as long as they don't inflict their second hand smoke on those who don't want to be a part of it. Everyone here pretty much agrees that we want less government right? What I am hearing regards to RFK is that a lot of you are okay with more and more rules and regulations from him regarding what we eat and how it is produced. Doesn't make sense to me.
But we the taxpayer have to fund the healthcare of many (under 65) and almost all (over 65) of these folks who eat crappy food. Look at healthcare spending in this country, as much as we spend we should all look like RFK but we look more like Richard Levine. I don't row crop but most of my customers and friends do and the American row crop farmer has been put on a roller coaster by big Ag and the USDA and they cant get off. The only way to make it is to yield more which means more volume and lower price and who cares what we spray. The rules are about what we eat its about how we produce what we eat. Dicamba is perfect example, greasing of palms brought us dicamba tolerant crops and the mess its become. |
