ECIL | If the parents owned land and rented the rest of the ground they farmed but the children had no desire to farm, the rented ground would go to new tenants, making them larger. And the parents would find a tenant for their owned land, making that operator larger. In some cases it may cause greed but in other cases the tenant would simply grow larger due to added acres.
When I retired neither of my children had any interest in carrying on with the farm. I picked out two tenants for my land. Each for various reasons. I approached them. One of them was able to rent the ground I had rented and laid up against mine. I gave my landlord the contact information of my tenant and visa versa. Neither of them is a BTO, but not a STO either. Neither is greedy, each grew due to their abilities and merits. | |
