Mid Michigan | When people realized they could go to town and do an easy job every day to make a living the farm lifestyle died. There are farms everywhere around here that none of the original family have farmed for decades. The kids did factory and government jobs and let the farm sit for decades and never turned a wrench on the place their entire lives. They don't have to worry about if it rains, if it doesn't rain, if it frosts to early or too late, not worried about markets, price of inputs. They pick up a paycheck every week to do a gravy weeks worth of work and leave all the worries of the farm to somebody else. | |
