WCIL | It's that time of year where we get to see how much our high deductible/high premium bronze health insurance has gone up and choose a plan. This year in my zip code in Illinois, it appears Aetna/CVS has become a choice; has only been about 2 choices for a few years now. A little research looks like they have good ratings from Forbes and other financial rating organizations, but are new to our area. Looks like customer service reviews are not very high, but we seldom directly contact our insurance company anyway. Currently have Blue Cross and have not had issues with them and would probably rate them as the best in our area. This year comparing apples to apples on coverage, Aetna/CVS costs $180 per month less, with a little lower deductible and out of pocket limit. Their network of providers look large and all of our providers appear to accept them (including St. Louis area hospitals that we sometimes have to use). We (wife and 2 kids), have the typical occasional dr visits, but sometimes have preventative tests when the need arises. No major ongoing health issues, but still a lot of money for what we do some years. Usually don't meet the deductible, but one gallbladder removal will kill that. Does anyone have experience with Aetna/CVS good or bad, especially compared to Blue Cross? I just want the insurance to work when we need it, and Aetna is a well known name in other areas. | |
