I'd do the first pick I know it overkill with 6 wire but you won't have to worry about getting out either. You couldn't pay me to put up hot wire I'll take a 4 wire barb everyday and twice on Sunday. The people that like hot wire have no idea to live in dry country and they don't work because it's not wet enough even if you go and water the ground rod it don't work when it is real dry.
Totally agree with this. I have used bit of electric to keep cows off private roads behind electric gate. And had fair success if started in wetter times. But even running dedicated ground wire and numerous ground rods, cow learn to challenge it. If all else is working a group of wild hogs comes thru and take 100's of yards of it. Also solar chargers cost a lot and don't last for me. I am not near power, so a battery of some kind is the only option.
With the dry air here in California we are just getting to the end of the life of the barb wire that was put in in the early 1900's.
