My FMX's are Glonass unlocked. However, they are the older style that can only see 12 satellite/36 channel maximum vs the newer 44 satellite/220 channel (Newer style starts with part number 937XX-XX).
You are correct about the antenna needing a clear line of site. That is why when I place the antenna on the ground I lose RTK Fixed. However, I take a couple steps back and it should go back to RTK Fixed in about 10 seconds or less. I have been doing this for several years and it has worked well. After I swapped out FMX's, it again worked well and I was able to continue all afternoon without so much as a hiccup. So Im sure that the way Im using the antenna is not what is creating this problem.
