I'm not saying that he has to rip, but disagree with the idea of an inline ripper pushing compaction lower. The ripper pressure is going upwards, that's why you can see the ground ripple as it goes through.
There lots of talk about deep ripping notill or striptill ground on Twitter right now. Some say no results, while other have yield maps showing 10+bpa advantage in corn.
