The so called Big Bang theory has lots of unanswered questions but so far it is the best explanation.

That is the good part of science as people try to prove things wrong and some times they find errors in the reasoning and things get corrected
If any recent release of info can be confirmed by other scientists or experts then corrections will be made or problems in the understanding corrected or filled in.

What is outside what we humans have been able to 'see' is a question many would like to answer but so far the correct answer is we do not know because when we look back in time by seeing light from ancient distant stars we can only see so far back as some light may still be coming from further away for our ancestors to see in the future but since it has not arrived yet there is no way for us to see it.

I guess if there is nothing then there will be no light to view in the future to prove the guess wrong so until we can answer the question your guess has as good a chance of being correct as anyone but remains just a guess and we do not know.
