Like Aggie said more info. I don't know where your located but here Boll Weevil Eradication would need to know about your little patch. Caporal is a premerge and contact killer. We normally used it as a directed spray under our cotton after the cotton had some size. We would use Cotoran behind the planter and first directed spray. Often used DSMA with the first directed spray and MSMA with the second. All of the products I have mentioned are hard on the cotton plants if you get them on the leaves and even the young tender stems. I think those products would do a good job of killing sunflowers if sprayed over the top.
