It is ,in my opinion,this was the best 86 that was built.The one we had didn't have a t/a so I didn't have that trouble.The most trouble that we had was with the clutch.We tore the hub out of the center of the clutch disc more than once.The 3 speed shifts much better than our 986 and 1086 did.It is still a 86 and not a desirable series of tractor at all.The lack of gears wasn't a problem because we ran these tractors the same time we were running 4630s and 4840s all with 8 speeds.1586s are good cheap hp,but don't expect comfort or a great deal of reliability. We traded ours on a 5488, which was about 20 times better.IMO the 86 series did as much to put IH out of business as anything. Will
