Subject: RE: Feeding Corn Stalks to Background Calves

Eastern NE KS
We had stacks go through a straight wind 90 mph for about 5 minutes. Our stack yard was multiple rows . After the wind, the stacks were half height with all row gaps filled with the top half. We were still able to feed almost everything. Stacks loaded fine then the stack tops loaded ok too. We expected a royal mess given the unbound feed but basically it was ok with one exception. We had to make multiple trips to deliver the same quantity of feed to the cows.

All that said, I believe big rounds waste much less forage than loos, compressed stacks.
