Subject: RE: Decision on buying a sprayer

SW Iowa
I'll just say I'm similar in size of acres and age and thankfully started learning to spray with a pull-type in high school and after I took over in college have continued with my pull type. If I didn't run a pull type and buy chemicals at cash and carry I wouldn't be able to farm full time at the cost of 2x application and anywhere from 5% to 30% markup on chemicals when applied by coop (I sold agronomy inputs at the coop I buy from). If your true goal is to move to full-time farming, pay yourself every chance to do the job. If you'd rather work in town and farm then just leave the liability and labor to a custom guy who as you mentioned won't run over as much crop.
