Central Wi
We bought a late model 854 last spring in your budget. It is all set up with swath control and steering. Sprayed about 2000 acres total. It was handy not having to share the corn planting tractor with sprayer so we sprayed more on time. A wheel motor would probably cost me as much as hiring coop to spray for a year. Maybe if I stress about one going bad it will never happen. The downside for me was going from 1200 gallons to 800 but I also built a decent tender trailer in a 28 ft van box. It made filling almost enjoyable. I'm sure you could find a red or green one in your budget on auction this winter if you watch. Stay away from the old obsolete ones like Wilmar. I was originally looking for a 3185 caseih until this one popped up.
