Lancaster County, Pa. | I live in Amish country. To an amishman baling corn fodder borders on being a religious experience. It would seem the grain is the byproduct, the fodder is the main crop. They use new Holland balers almost exclusively with a sprinkling of older centerlines thrown in. I've seen them bale a field, rake up the crumbs and bale it again. When they shred fodder they use a flail shredder (local built) that really beats up the stalks so that there are very few big, tough stalks to cause issues. | |
