Bottom of the Mitten | That seems like a big investment for those acres. You could buy a pull type sprayer and another tractor cheaper and then you'd have the other tractor for other jobs. I couldn't see myself being without my own sprayer for the reasons you stated, I just know it can be accomplished way cheaper than $30k. With corn at $3.50ish I would not want any payments showing up in the mailbox. If you're uncle is wanting to back off on acres I can't see him wanting to go 50/50 on that size of an investment
Edit: In my area less than $2k will get you a functional pull type Hardi with 45' booms. That's plenty of sprayer for those acres and it doesn't take a lot of tractor to pull it
