I saw it on a tour this summer. For me, there were several takeaway points:

First, the presenter had a very poor grasp on the chemistry involved in the process and could not articulate what the machine was doing or how. It was left to the guests to make inferences.

Next, how hard can it be to determine the form and concentration of N in a solution?

Also, the bit about four cents a gallon must only include production costs (electricity) and not anything for depreciation. The units are very expensive and output is very low. If I recall correctly, one machine was something like $35K and could make enough N for 500 acres of corn...if it ran 24/7/365.

But the early efforts were not that successful. One machine even caught fire. They soon determined that you need to use distilled water, as even a small amount of mineral is a problem.

Finally, I came away with the impression that this was not just a technology that interested Precision, but was something that they might try to improve upon and offer as a new product. They did not say this...just my impression.
